8supplies to each of Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate Prefecturesrespectively. I myself also traveled to the Tohoku region ofJapan to give lectures on “Gathering for heart-to-heartunderstanding” as well as “Radiation contaminationcountermeasures” in many venues. During my visit, one of thehomoeopathic members who had been hit by the earthquaketold me the following story.“Up until now, I had taken it for granted that I had a steadysupply of water, to use electricity, to have my own home, butthen after I had lost everything, I realized how fortunate I hadbeen.”She became aware of this in the midst of that traumaticsituation. She felt so grateful for being able to walk to thevenue to listen to the lecture. She wasn’t the only memberwho has said this as there were many other members whowere hit by the earthquake, who have said the same thing. There had been a huge amount of damage, and yet, I sensed akind of hope that something may change in this Tohokuregion. What I want to say here is that hardship isn’t all bad. It is alsotrue that only through hardship, can we often realize manythings. It is the same with illness, which in itself gives us aprecious opportunity for rethinking our way of living life andthe way we think, and through which we often discover thatwe are living our lives wrongly and are biased in our thinking,
