People already know the facts aboutnuclear fallout, take for example cesium 137 with its half-lifeof 30 years, it will take 300 years for its radioactivity to bereduced to 1/1000, and as with plutonium 239 with its halflifeof 24,000 years, it takes 240,000 years for its radioactivityto be reduced to 1/1000. We are also aware of the fact that thespent nuclear fuel (or high-level nuclear waste produced by itsreprocessing) is an extremely dangerous object, which needsto be insulated from the earth’s environment for a period ofone million years.How on earth can we possibly thrust this dangerous nuclearfallout on to our descendants for the next one million yearsonly for the reason of creating energy for our present dailylives?
