Foreword 17Japan people have called it Otendo-sama (sun goddess) sinceancient times. The Otendo-sama is the embodiment of loveitself, who emits light to everyone without prejudice. Itdepends on each individual whether they can sense love inOtendo-sama. The ancient Japanese could sense it becausethey used to live in tune with nature. Then, Otendo-sama isalso a symbol of the Gods who are the embodiment of loveitself.Otendo-sama will not judge people by handing out tinypunishments and neither does the true God. She wouldn’t holdyou to any commandment, but will accept whoever the personis and pours love onto everyone. I believe that within thisoverwhelming acknowledgement, we find peace, loosen ourresistance, and let ourselves be just as we are. We can trust,and naturally genuflect in awe. We cannot help clasping handstogether in prayer with gratitude. These are the feelings thatunderlie the faith.This attitude towards Otendo-sama is none other than thefeelings towards our Inner God. What we see in Otendo-samaare literally our own selves. When we are in contact with andmoved by overwhelming love and an unparalleled great will,we are simultaneously in contact with a truly great thingdwelling within ourselves.
